--------

The Diving Dream Camp at Indiana University is a completely new concept in overnight diving camps. Or maybe it can be considered a return to the original diving camp concept created at Indiana University by Hobie Billingsley over 60 years ago.

The cost of housing, facilities, food, and top coaches has forced overnight camps to grow so large that the ability to get to know the campers and teach diving technique rather than just "teach new dives" has been lost.

The concept is to offer an overnight camp opportunity for a small group of divers that want to work with the Head Olympic coach and his world class coaching staff, in world class facilities. We want to build relationships through our shared love of the sport of diving. The 2025 Diving Dream Camp will be returning to the personal experience of the old camps, and modernizing it, by utilizing the world class facilities and technology here at Indiana University.  All done with the best coaches in the NCAA.

The modern-day overnight camp model has always frustrated us, it has never represented our vision for offering an overnight diving camp. We want to get to know and work with every camper every day, that is what Hobie Billingsley did over 60 years ago when he started offering overnight camps at Indiana University. He had small groups and the best staff assisting him, as he worked with young divers of all abilities for an extended period of time.” Drew and Jenny Johansen

After running traditional overnight camps for decades, we have decided that overnight diving camp model can be improved. In the old model we felt we did not have the ability to connect with the campers and really get to know them. We struggled to help them reach their goals with the long lines and limited time to work with so many campers. However, we have been able to accomplish this through our Individual Training Camps (ITC) program. This camp model focused on short 3 day camps with no overnight experience during the school year. This model allowed us to work with every diver, every day. This has allowed us to build great relationships with divers and families and will continue to be the backbone of our camp offerings.

This summer we will combine our long standing successful ITC model with the overnight summer camp idea. We will offer one longer week of camp, July 5th – 12th (8 days and 7 nights) and will only be accepting the first 40 registrants. This new concept will ensure that we will be able to work with your diver every day and get to know them well. We hope the experience will make us part of their journey for the rest of their lives.

We have also decided to add some additional fun activities outside of the pool, which our lead coaches will participate in, even having a coaches cooking-off! We also adding a Parent Breakfast on the last day of camp to get an opportunity to connect with all of you!

Our new camp model is lead 4x head Olympic Coach Drew Johansen who has assembled the best coaching staff in the country to work with every camper every day! We have unique backgrounds with the special ability to work with divers in all stages of their careers. Beginner, High School, JO, AAU, National, International, Olympic; we can do it all.

We are excited to offer this opportunity for you to partner with us in an extraordinary way, experiencing the greatest summer camp offered in such a wonderful sport!
